Heartworm Testing & Treatment
Heartworms are a mosquito-borne parasite that can infect both cats and dogs but are most commonly found in dogs. Heartworms are easily preventable through a variety of heartworm prevention medications. We recommended testing dogs once a year and require a yearly negative heartworm test to dispense heartworm prevention medication. We offer the following preventive medications:

-
ProHeart (6 and 12 month injectable heartworm prevention)
-
Heartgard (once monthly chewable tablet)
-
Nexgard Plus (once monthly chewable tablet – covers heartworms, fleas and ticks and intestinal parasites)
-
Advantage Multi (once monthly topical application)
If you are looking for a certain medication that we do not carry in-house, then check out our Online Pharmacy. It has more medication options with the convenience of shipping to your home.

If tests are positive for heartworms, we’ll recommend a heartworm treatment right away. The specific treatment method and cost will vary depending on your pet’s overall health and length of exposure to the parasite. Regular prevention is always the best option—both for your pet’s health and your wallet!
Dentistry
Animal Health & Medical Center recommends and offers dental services to maintain your pet’s optimal health. Maintaining your pet’s teeth through routine dental, scale, and polish can help extend the life of your cat or dog and avoid more serious health problems later on.

Dental services on dogs and cats require the use of anesthesia and, therefore, require an appointment to be scheduled in advance. We also recommend that your pet be placed on an antibiotic three days before and three days after their scheduled dental appointment.
Full-Care Boarding
We offer full-care boarding with a climate-controlled indoor kennel and an outdoor fenced backyard for your pet’s enjoyment and comfort. We feed Hill’s Science Diet to maintain optimum digestive health, but you are welcome to bring your own food if your pet has specific dietary needs.

We require all boarders to be current on vaccinations. This includes Rabies, DHLP and Kennel Cough for dogs and Rabies, FVRCP/Leukemia for cats. Kennel cough protects best if given at least one week before boarding. Visitors are welcome!
